Cargo Review

Writing a review for Cargo has proven difficult. Why? Because Cargo is unlike any other website-building tool out there. It is not merely a CMS for bloggers. It is not an e-commerce solution for retailers. It is not even a portfolio builder for creative types. Cargo Collective is actually all three – and more.

When you sign up for the service, you are getting a collection of tools for creating a completely unique website from the ground up. You do get templates to work with, but there isn’t a single element you cannot change. You have the opportunity to make your website exactly what you want it to be.

Cargo Features

Cargo, Cargo 2, and Persona are the three primary tools found in Cargo Collective. They are presented in a single website-building package with features as wide-ranging as the tools themselves. Below is just a short list of those features. There is a lot to learn with Cargo Collective, but the tools you do eventually master will work very well.

Main Features:

  • Drag-and-drop editing
  • Block editing
  • Custom layout and design
  • Image galleries
  • Extensive typography
  • Thumbnails
  • Content and site pinning
  • Page stacking
  • Dynamic backdrops.

Given that you can use this service for free, it is highly recommended you do so before committing to a paid plan. There is just too much to learn to make a decision any other way.

Cargo Pricing

Cargo Collective’s free option gives you 100 MB of storage and up to 3 pages, 12 projects, and 5 memberships. You can also edit existing CSS. It is not a lot, but it’s enough for you to get the feel of the platform before spending any money. Note that your site will remain private – meaning you will be the only one who can see it – as long as you remain on the free plan.

Should you choose to upgrade to a paid plan, there are two options. Both include the exact same features. The only difference between them is the billing cycle. If you are willing to commit to a full year of service, you will be billed just $99. Electing to go month-to-month instead comes at a cost of $13 per month ($156/annually). A paid plan removes all storage, bandwidth, and page limits and includes professional support, e-commerce integration, cloud storage, domain registration, and more.
